Pressed Flower Prints

Get inspired by beautiful summer garden blooms! In this workshop, students will learn how to combine dynamic textures of pressed flowers with the fluidity of watercolor to capture and create the spirit and personality of the blossoms, while developing their own visual language of printmaking and brush work. When pressed, the colors from flowers and plants turn into natural dyes that can create abstract shapes on the page. Artist Dana Harel demonstrates how combining this process with inking the leaves offers an array of ways to compose beautiful artwork.

Dana Harel was born and raised in Tel Aviv, Israel. She received a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the California College of the Arts in San Francisco. Harel’s drawings evolve organically, fusing themes of man and environment. Her understanding of form through architecture leads to transformative depictions of human and animal, offering us an idea and not solution to our own internal struggle. Harel's exhibitions have appeared in galleries around the world.
