Celebrate and honor loved ones with Montalvo on Día de los Muertos by building your own mini altar to celebrate the Day of the Dead! Local artist Elizabeth Jiménez Montelongo will guide you through the process, demonstrating each step. She will also share some information on basic altar elements and the Indigenous roots of the Día de Muertos tradition.
The process of crafting these mini altars will give you a full range of opportunity for creative liberty and personalization, and you'll come away with a festive piece that you can display at home.
MATERIALS: Please bring your choice of three empty boxes in various sizes: cereal boxes, shoe boxes, tissue boxes, snack boxes. Other materials will be provided. Feel free to bring small decorative objects, natural objects, and/or a centerpiece for the top.
