In celebration of Mental Health Awareness Month, Montalvo Arts Center invites you to unwind, explore your feelings, and energize your soul through artistic expression in this relaxing painting class with instructor Haleh Mahbod.
During this two hour workshop, you will learn techniques to make time for yourself and unblock your creative mind, including how to get started, how to choose colors to reflect your mood, how to create harmony through color and texture, and how to look critically at your painting to decide if it feels "done."
We will use a flower bouquet as the subject for this session, or you can alternatively bring your favorite floral or landscape photo. As we progress through the lessons, you will notice how your own feelings about the subject will emerge through your work. The end result can be anything from a recreation of what you see to an abstract or impressionist expression — that's up to you!
This class is great for all experience levels — just bring an open mind and a desire to relax through art! Artists will take home the masterpiece they create in class that day.
COVID-19 REQUIREMENTS: This is an indoor class. All participants ages 12 and up will be required to show proof of full vaccination. Children under 12 must show proof of either full vaccination or a negative COVID-19 PCR or antigen test taken within 72 hours of the class date. Masks are welcome and encouraged while indoors.
