Description

 
The SJZ U19s Combo is a student-led ensemble that features members from the audition-based SJZ High School All Stars in a small group setting. The group performs jazz repertoire that is chosen by its members and develops their performing technique through the combo format (trio, quartet, quintet, etc) at regional concerts and events including the SJZ Summer Fest & Monterey Jazz Festival. This format allows for each individual player to be heard at any time and for all to listen and contribute to the song as creatives. Founded in 1986, San Jose Jazz is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit arts organization that celebrates jazz as a dynamic, evolving art form. SJZ preserves the jazz tradition while actively supporting the next generation of performers within the genre and beyond.
 
Performing Arts Series for Students:
This series has been curated to include performances examining timely social themes through an integrated learning lens and giving a platform to diverse cultural perspectives with links to California Arts Standards and the California Arts Education Framework.
 
Each date offers two performance times to chose from: 9:30am or 11:30am.
Those attending the 11:30am performance are invited to stay after and picnic on the lawn.
