About Latin Heart
Latin Heart is an innovative exploration of the intersection between jazz and Latin American musical traditions. This work for jazz trio augmented by string quartet and special guest saxophonist Chris Potter blends the rhythmic vitality, melodic richness, and harmonic sophistication of Latin American music with the improvisational spirit of jazz. Edward began composing the piece during recent residencies at Montalvo Arts Center and Ucross, shaping a project that promises to be both engaging and deeply expressive.
Latin Heart was created with support from Chamber Music America's New Jazz Works Program, funded through the generosity of the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation. It was created during residencies at UCross, Clearmont, Wyoming, and Montalvo Arts Center, Saratoga, California, U.S.A., 2025.
